There is encouraging news from Somalia for women's right in Africa. Fadumo Dayib who was once a Somali refugee and who transformed her life to become a Harvard graduate and mother, is running for the country's number one job. She has a Bachelor’s degree
in Nursing, a Master’s degree from Harvard in Public administration (and two
other Master’s degrees From Finland and is working on a Ph.D. However, she is
currently making a huge sacrifice to run as Somali’s first female president in a
country with dismal human rights record and a long history of oppression
against women. She sees her decision to run as a moral obligation and a civic
duty to her country to enable millions of Somalis in diaspora and those
internally displaced to have a dignified existence to go back to. She believes
in Somalia and loves her country and is not afraid to take the risks to
transform her Country. This is indeed commendable and a definite encouragement
to all women of virtue that they can overcome the past and still be a
blessing to the world by self-development. We wish her success and wish all
women aspiring to be useful to the world and offer genuine service to humanity,
success in their endeavours. And it maybe high time Nigerian women rose up to
the challenge of uniting behind their best women to turn the nation around, by offering quality leadership.
